Sounding like a curmudgeon here, but I *do* have travel experience to far-off locations:
Observation - Viking made a terrible scheduling decision. Why on earth did Viking pick NYE for a tour arrival day???? Not their first rodeo, just saying, so they should have known better. I find this oversight discouraging.
You are a great traveller to report the interesting aspects, but sheesh, after a looong flight, you are subjected to exhausting transport to your hotel due what I accuse is bad planning on the company’s part.
We were actually scheduled to come in today, but the tour starts tomorrow and we like to have a day to get ready. Lesson: on NYE come in 2 days early! Then we could have seen the fireworks! The Air France 6 hour layover between flights in Paris was too long as well. In retrospect we should have considered a couple of nights in Gay Paree!
*Shame on me for blaming Viking without evidence!! *
I apologize.
Ouchie for you and Brilliant Wife. Sorry you suffered for an oversight. We too regularly schedule a day or two early arrival to cover problems and acclimation before tour start.
I hate these hard life lessons. Best Wishes for the rest of your exciting tour.
Every thing you can imagine was in the buffet plus three chefs cooking eggs to order. I could do a whole blog on it. Can’t remember the names of the local dishes but I will write it up before we leave. Quite tasty. And coffee was really good!
Sounds like quite an eventful night. Happy New Years! The wife and I had a nice quiet evening-2 lbs of crab legs and watched the ball come down in NYC. At least we did make it until midnight!
Sounds like the trip from the airport to the hotel was a journey in itself. We are expecting a cold wave that is coming down from the north so enjoy your trip, I am sure your friends and family will save some of the snow for you, here in Georgia it will get to 27 degrees, so all the bread is gone at the stores. Have a great trip and be careful.
David, on another note:
I completed my first entry in our draft Morocco SubStack.
Thanks Sue~!

Oh, I see.

Hi Bob~! You’re not the only Delphos kid who loves crab legs! Our old buddy Tim F does as well! Happy New Year to you and your wonderful wife~!
